Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative progressive disorder that affects dopamine-producing neurons in the substantia nigra of the brain. The progression of symptoms differs from one person to another. People with PD may experience tremors, slowness of movements, (bradykinesia) gait and balance issues, dystonia and non-motor symptoms including anxiety, depression, constipation, and cognitive impairment.

Parkinson's Families of Northwest Kansas, a nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization, makes life better for those suffering from PD by offering free activities, free weekly therapies, resources and educational opportunities. Parkinson's Families is led by a group of volunteers living in rural Northwest Kansas who are directly impacted by PD.

Parkinson's "Moving to Live" Fall Conference is the first large-scale educational event hosted by Parkinson's Families. The conference aims to educate and inspire people living with PD and essential tremors, their care partners and loved ones. Not only does the conference benefit community people, but it also benefits general practitioners, movement specialists other medical professionals who treat and diagnose the disease.
